Modern tools for ancient self-care advice.
Using the tools of modernity for a “better” (substitute healthier ) you.
Empowerment, personal motivation and body image are a buzz in the self-help arena. None of this is new; the message is just changed, reflecting current trends.
For wellness, I tie the message of the desired behavior “I am a: healthier eater, an exerciser, and a better friend instead of an endpoint ( e.g., I am thin). Living well is a journey, not a destination.
When I use the “I message” ( I am) vs. (I will be) I sense a stronger need for immediate change.
Couple your vision of the healthier you with a photo documentation of the process.
Make a file of selfies for the process. The linked study shows people preferred photos to document changes instead of numerical values.
Look in both the glass and minds eye mirrors to see who you are and wish to be.
