Are you becoming a protein hoarder?
-developing your Alzheimer’s Disease
This morning I listened to a leading researcher on the development of Alzheimer’s Disease and reversal of the cognitive decline through therapies.
My takeaway for today is cellular cleanup.
While our bodies continual cellular construction-demolition occurs, an attempt for the efficient use of energy and the recycling of chemical parts is made. What is reusable is added to the inputs (i.e. nutrients).
This normal process of taking defective, worn out cells out of circulation is called autophagy.
“Autophagy is a normal physiological process in the body that deals with destruction of cells in the body. It maintains homeostasis or normal functioning by protein degradation and turnover of the destroyed cell organelles for new cell formation.”-Wikipedia
One of the lifestyle habits we need to incorporate to allow ideal autophagy includes good rest; through sleep and fasting.
7.5-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep
3 hours between the last meal and bedtime and
12-16 hours of caloric fasting between today’s last and tomorrow’s first meal.
Take the time to clean up and put away your cellular stuff.
Cramming it into your cranium and slamming the door shut will probably lead to developing an out of sight and “out of your mind” situation.
